I have been getting some questions from students and I thought some of you might be wondering the same thing. Now that the Craft Room is all the buzz… do I still need a Gyspy? Well honestly, do we really NEED more toys!!? So the right answer is no… but I really like it! The Gypsy and the Cricut Craft Room work so well together they will make your Cricuting so much more fun. Why do I need both ? Well, I love the Craft Room because I can design on a larger screen, I can buy new cartridges or digital images right in the Craft Room, and there are many features I love about the Craft Room. Want to learn more about it? Try my Class to Go! But there are some limits…I need to have my computer and be connected to the internet to use this program, even to cut saved designs. That might be hard at some of the places I travel to scrapbook. So far…if I have linked my cartridges to my Gypsy, I can not link them to my Craft Room just yet. (Support says they are working on it but so far not an option) So if I have all my cartridges linked to my Gypsy, I must have the cartridges plugged into my Cricut in order to cut my design with the Craft Room. Well again, adds more to carry if I am traveling to a crop. But if I design in the Craft Room and save my design to my Gypsy, where all my cartridges are linked, I can head off to my crop with my Cricut and my Gypsy. No internet, no computer, no cartridges. It is very easy to move files back and forth between the two. If you purchase digital cartridges or images in the Craft Room, they will also be on your Gypsy next time you update your Gypsy using Cricut Sync software.
The software does allow you to link new cartridges to your Craft Room account and then they will also link to your Gypsy next time you update thru Cricut Sync too. I have a Gypsy Class to Go that that will get you and Gypsy working great together. Lessons are revealed weekly but you can log in whenever it is convenient for you to watch them. There is a lesson that shows you how to move your design files between your Gypsy, your computer and Cricut Craft Room.
